DigitalAnarchy - Psunami v1.1 for After Effects

Psunami Water 1.1 generates precise 3D geometry of an ocean surface, then produces ultra-realistic ray-traced output that looks like real water. Psunami has been used in many feature films, television productions, and commercials.
Psunami does this by creating a true 3D environment within After Effects, with polygonal modeling, geometric displacement mapping, a 3D animatable camera, animatable light sources, and raytracing with reflections and reflection mapping. Within this environment you can fully animate the camera in three dimensions, precisely control waves and swells in the ocean surface, and simulate haze and rainbows in the atmosphere. You can use up to three still or animated image maps to create reflections or incorporate logos in the ocean surface, complete with displacement mapping, and animate two visible light sources.

As you might guess, calculating all of this can be a time-consuming process, and requires substantial computer horsepower to render frames in a reasonable time. Atomic Power Psunami has been specially optimized for speed in the After Effects environment, making it one of the fastest 3D raytracers available today.

Psunami utilizes the 'RenderWorld' ray-tracing render engine from Arete Image Software. This gives you render quality that's generally only found in high-end 3D systems. With Psunami, you can design, animate and render 3D oceanographic effects completely within After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Digital Fusion.

What does all this mean? You can create gorgeous, photo-realistic water and pull off 3D effects just by using the displacement and texture mapping controls. The Psunami plugin contains many unique features, including the following:

– Ability to set up and render 3D imagery within a 2D application.
– Grayscale mode for setup and output as a displacement map.
– Depth-of-field rendering for adding additional layers into a comp.
– Ability to attach a camera to the waves' surface for bobbing.
– Displacement mapping for stylistic water behavior and effects.
– Use up to three different images or movies for texturing or displacement mapping.
– Ability to move the camera underwater. You're not limited to above the surface shots.
– True reflection mapping for matching sky reflections.


Note: The about box shows this is v1.0. We don't know why the manifacturer didn't change it to v1.1 like mentioned in the installer (probably they just forgot ...............)
